10 Tips For Getting The Most Out Of Invisalign

While each patient’s case is unique, Invisalign is being used more than ever and can treat a variety of orthodontic cases.

1. Yes, You Have To Wear Them

It’s an all-too-true reality, but there’s no dancing around it: You have to keep the     aligners on for at least 22 hours a day or you won’t get the best results. Make sure you’re ready for that commitment.

2. Your Speech May Be Affected Slightly at the Beginning

Just like with braces there’s an adjustment period when you get your first pair of aligners. After a while you will forget you’re wearing them and speak just as you did before.

3. Invisalign Isn’t For Everyone

Invisalign can treat most orthodontic issues, like crooked teeth, minor over/underbites, or gaps. But for more severe cases, traditional braces will your best option. 

4. Keep Toothpaste & Floss With You At All Times 

You’ll need to use one with its companion, the mini tube of toothpaste in between meals, so your teeth are as clean as possible while you wear your aligners. Assuming you eat the typical three times a day, that means you’ll need it for 21 instances in a single week. The longer you let food particles linger in your mouth, the greater your cavity risk gets.

5. Avoid Teeth-Staining Beverages

In general, beverages such as coffee, red wine, and tea can stain your Invisalign aligners. If you regularly drink these, just be sure to brush your teeth before putting your aligners back in. 

6. You Might Lose Weight With the “Invisalign Diet”

Midday snacks will never be the same, because every time you eat, you have to brush your teeth. That 2 pm snack craving will be a little difference when you’re undergoing treatment. 

7. A Little Sore, but Not Painful

No, you won’t be able to eat raw carrots on your first day, but compared to metal braces, the adjustment period is much quicker. 

8. No Ones Wants Yellow Aligners

Yellowing of your aligners can happen if you don’t brush post-meal, but also because you’re washing it with toothpaste—as surprising as that may be. Most people think that’s how they are supposed to clean trays, but toothpaste contains abrasive ingredients that can cause buildup and odor.  Stick to a mild detergent or soap instead and once a week use a denture soak cleaner.

9. It Take Time

The average treatment of Invisalign is one year or longer. Your end date is just an estimate, it could be shorter it could be longer it all depends on you. If you are wearing your aligners for the required amount of time.
